A1 (Netherlands)

The Dutch highway A1 (Dutch: Rijksweg) begins in the east of Amsterdam at the junction Watergraafsmeer and ends into the German highway A30 in the east of the country.

Along the way it passes the cities of Amersfoort, Apeldoorn, Deventer, Hengelo, Oldenzaal and Enschede.

Hitching the A1

  • (1)   Diemen-Noord
  • (2)   Diemen
  •   Knooppunt Diemen
    • Chance to get on to the highway A9.
  • (3)   Muiden If you want to go eastwards, walk up this ramp until you find a delivery road. Walk along this for some meters until you reach the service station Honswijck!  
  •    Honswijck / Hackelaar   (very good)
    • Good service station (on both sides) to get lifts towards Amsterdam or on the other side towards all of the Netherlands. Check Muiden-page for how to get there.
  • (4)   Muiderslot   (good)
    • Ramp towards Amsterdam, directly connected with the service station Hackelaar. If you want to go towards Amsterdam, it's your spot!
  •   Knooppunt Muiderberg
    • Chance to get on to the highway A6.
  • (5)   Naarden-West
