The British Indian Ocean Territory is an overseas territory of the United Kingdom (UK) situated in the Indian Ocean. The territory comprises the six atolls of the Chagos Archipelago with over 1,000 individual islands.
The largest island is the site of a joint military facility of the UK and USA. The only people living there are soldiers or civilians working for the army.
