Borne is a city in Netherlands, in the east of the province Overijssel.
North towards Almelo, Deventer, Amsterdam / South towards Enschede
Walk about 2km from the city centre on the Azelosestraat and later turn left towards Kluft to exit 29 on the A1. Here you'll find a good spot in both directions. The first on-ramp you'll encounter goes towards Deventer and Amsterdam, try to get a ride which will take you at least to the service station Struik. From here it will be easy to find rides deep into the Netherlands.
The second ramp takes you towards Enschede and Hengelo. Ask carefully where the drivers are going, as this is the last exit before the junction (Knooppunt Buren) of the A1 and A35. Like the spot described below, this is also a good option to take you towards Germany or at least further on the A1 towards Oldenzaal.
East towards Oldenzaal, Germany
Take bus #51 towards Hengelo and get off at IKEA. Alternatively you can walk 2km again. Cross the highway on the overpass to make sure you're hitching in the right direction. This is a worse spot compared to the one described above, but with far more traffic. Depending on the time of day you should be able to decide for yourself what will be best.
