Hitchhiking in

  • From Rostov-on-Don option A: Travel along the federal highway M4 "Don", passing Korenovsk, right after which the federal road No. 160 turns left. Follow this road through Ust-Labinsk and Belorechensk to reach Maykop. The distance from Rostov-on-Don to Korenovsk is 220 km, from Korenovsk to Maykop is 130 km.
  • From Rostov-on-Don option B: Travel along the federal highway M4 "Don" to the village of Pavlovskaya, where the federal highway A217 "Kavkaz" begins. Continue along it to Armavir, after which you turn right towards Labinsk. This road leads directly to the capital of Adygea. This route is also convenient when traveling from Mineralnye Vody or Stavropol. The distance from Rostov-on-Don to Armavir is 300 km, from Armavir to Maykop is 120 km.
  • From Krasnodar on the M4 "Don" highway, reach Adygeysk, proceed further without entering the city, keeping course towards Ryazanskaya village. From there, turn right onto the road to Belorechensk. Then continue on road No. 160 to Maykop. The distance from Krasnodar to Adygeysk is 30 km, from Adygeysk to Belorechensk is 70 km, from Belorechensk to Maykop is 30 km.
  • From Apsheronsk: If you are coming from the Black Sea coast heading to Maykop, you will pass through the regional center of Krasnodar Krai - Apsheronsk (unless you decide to take a detour to Belorechensk). Two main options to reach Apsheronsk: from Dzhubga via Goryachy Klyuch and Saratovskaya village; from Tuapse via Khadyzhensk. To continue to Maykop, take the southern exit from Apsheronsk towards Guamka and Mezmay. The landmark is the Convent in honor of the Icon of the Mother of God “The Impregnable Wall”. The distance from Apsheronsk to Maykop is 45 km.
  • Another route is from Mezmay to the checkpoint of the Caucasian Biosphere Reserve, located in the Lago-Naki area, then on to Dakhovskaya. Alternatively, go through Temnoleskaya village, again to Dakhovskaya and Kamennomostsky village. However, this is not a fast route and involves traveling on old and sometimes logging roads. This is best for those who set off from the coast on foot, following the famous Soviet hiking route 30, reaching the Lago-Naki plateau. From there, you can descend through Partizanskaya Polyana to Guzeripl and get a ride to Maykop. The Guzeripl-Khamyshkhi-Dakhovskaya-Kamennomostsky-Maykop road has good asphalt and impressive views of Mountainous Adygea. The distance from Guzeripl to Maykop is 85 km.
  • The reconstructed road: Stanitsa Nizhegorodskaya - Mezmay. As of spring 2016, construction is not finished. It is possible to travel on it, but 7-8 km before Mezmay the road becomes dirt track. It is possible to get from Mezmay to Temnoleskaya only in 4x4 vehicles. If traveling through Lago-Naki, it is advised to coordinate with local foresters—unauthorized entry into the reserve is punishable. Phone for the reserve’s 24-hour duty officer: +7 918 4901812
