The participants
40 people, mostly from Germany, but also from Ireland, New Zealand, Argentina, Australia and Slovenia participated the race. A rule was, that everybody had to hitch in a team of two or more, the teams were not allowed to separate until they reached the destination camping site in Bled. Also a German TV Team was part of the race and hitched the contest. We had 20 teams, one with 3 girls (two from New Zealand one from Germany), the rest teams of two.
The route
For all teams, the destination was secret until the race really started. Also the used route was choice of the teams. But there was only one route which made really sense. It was Augsburg -> Munich -> Salzburg -> Villach -> Bled.
The winners
The winners got the award German hitchhiking champion 2010, a gold medal, a box of haribo, a new marker pen and some universal translation books from our sponsor ICOON. The winner was the team with the three girls. Many teams got stuck at Raststätte Feistritz near Villach just before the Slovenian border and had to camp there. They arrived one day later.
