The city is connected with Montevideo by Ruta 1. Also, there's a ferry service to Buenos Aires, Argentina.

It's easy to walk out of town. Just get towards the main road Avenida F.D. Roosevelt and follow it up until the roundabout with Avenida J. Battle y Ordoñez. Right behind the roundabout, one can easily start hitchhiking towards Montevideo.
