Hitchhiking out

West towards Roslavl and Smolensk via R120

Option 1 – After the stop "Hypermarket Liniya-1" behind the cafe "Tsaritsa". Option 2 – After the intersection of the road with the bypass, past the abandoned police post and the "Neftika" gas station. Transport: From Bryansk-Orlovsky train station and the bus station, take route no. 60 to the final stop "Michurinskiy". From there, walk about 500 m to the intersection with the bypass, where the abandoned police post and gas station are. Alternatively, route no. 177 goes from the bus station to the settlement Glinishchevo – it's possible to hitchhike right after entering this settlement.

Southwest through Novozybkov, towards Gomel (Belarus) via R240

R240 towards Gomel continues on Stanke-Dimitrov Avenue. The city exit is at the "Teletsentr" stop, in the village of Suponyevo. From M3 (Belye Berega) to "Teletsentr" – bus no. 106. From "Myasokombinat" to "Teletsentr" – route no. 45. From Bryansk-Orlovsky train station – routes no. 1, 52, 79 and trolleybus no. 1. Hitchhiking spot is right after "Teletsentr" past the roundabout, near the "Beryozka" shop. Further in Suponyevo towards the police post the road is under repair and no good spots exist, use route minibuses (no. 166) towards Dobrun (on R240 past the bypass).

North towards Kaluga, Moscow via M3

To get to M3, you first travel a bit on R120 (A141, Bryansk-Oryol) which leaves the city on Moskovsky Avenue. Option 1 – Hitchhike at the exit from Bryansk. From the bus station, take routes 40, 45, or bus 106 from Bryansk-Orlovsky train station, or routes 3, 31, to "Myasokombinat" (final stop for most). Walk a bit after the ring intersection. Take cars as far as the intersection with M3. Option 2 – Get further from Bryansk to the M3/R120 intersection using a suburban bus (about double the city rate). Bus 106 from Gomel direction via Belye Berega, or bus 72 from the central market. Also, there are minibuses. Get off at the stop by the cafe and car service and walk to the transport police post. Advice for both: At the M3/R120 junction, there is forest for camping and many cafes.

East towards Oryol via R120

R120 (A141) leaves the city towards Oryol via Moskovsky Avenue, its continuation. Option 1 – Same directions as in the "north to Moscow" variant, get to "Myasokombinat" and walk past the roundabout for the hitch spot. Continue hitchhiking beyond the Moscow-Kiev/ Bryansk-Oryol intersection. Option 2 – Use suburban buses to reach the M3/R120 intersection as above. The M3/R120 junction is forested and good for camping, with cafes nearby.

South towards Ukraine via M3

Same as "north to Moscow": get to "Myasokombinat", walk past the ring, hitch rides ideally at or just after the M3 turn-off. For further travelling towards Ukraine, take the first ride at least until Navlya: the second turn to Navlya has an abandoned police post (sometimes with a parked police car) and is more convenient. Further, the turn to Sevsk is good, with cafes, functioning gas stations and frequent police presence. Past Sevsk, take rides only from the main junction "Ukraina - right, Zheleznogorsk - left". Here, there is a gas station, cafe, and forest for camping.

Avoid the part near the penal colony next to Bryansk-Orlovsky train station and the DOSAAF pool. The Desna and Bolva floodplains also provide possible tent spots throughout the city.
