Belorechensk (Russian: Белореченск) is a city in Russia, located in Krasnodar Krai. The city has about 55,000 inhabitants. It lies on the Belaya River in the foothills of the Greater Caucasus. Belorechensk is situated 80 km southeast of the regional center Krasnodar and 27 km northwest of Maykop. It is a hub station (Belorechenskaya) of the North Caucasus Railway on the Armavir—Tuapse line, with a branch running up the Belaya Valley (through Maykop) to Kamennomostsky. Hitchhikers often pass through Belorechensk on the A160 highway heading to and from the mountains of Adygea.

Hitchhiking out
South towards Maykop via A160
- Bus No. 111 goes from the city center to the settlement of Vostochny. After it turns off the highway, there is the "DNT Zheleznodorozhnik-1" stop; you can return back to the highway and hitchhike opposite the turn (there are no guardrails or streetlights), or go a bit further south—there’s a café-canteen with a convenient pull-off and the welcome stele for Adygea.
North towards Ust-Labinsk and Korenovsk via A160
- Buses 108, 109, 115, 116, 122, 193, 549, 582, and 610 turn at the intersection with a traffic light, 12 km from the city. Right after the turn, there is a "request stop." The intersection has streetlights and a wide shoulder. The area is surrounded by fields, so drivers are less distracted.
- Several streets from central Belorechensk lead straight to the highway. Check possible spots on these and update this description!
Southwest towards Goryachy Klyuch and Apsheronsk
- Bus 107A goes to the stanitsa Pshekhskaya.
- Buses 102, 103, and 120 turn south at the same point in Pshekhskaya, on the right bank of the river.
- Minibus 159 to Apsheronsk.
East towards Kurganinsk and Armavir
- Bus 114A goes to the turnoff for Stepnoy. As of 2020, there are no streetlights or guardrails there.
- Bus 114 goes to the stanitsa Giaginskaya, from which you’ll also need to find onward transportation. It is better to get off earlier, near Stepnoy.
