Boosaaso is major seaport with connection to neighbouring Berbera in Somaliland and Aden in Yemen. It also has an international airport with connection to Djibouti and Dubai which is undergoing major reconstruction works.
Local unofficial dust roads connects neighbouring village and one highway heads southward to the capital city Garowe.
Venturing outside the city without an armed escort would currently not be recommended due to the highly volatile situation in the area and especially with neighbouring de facto independant Somaliland, which is since recently in high tension due to border dispute.
