Hitchhiking out

Southwest towards Bolivia

So you are tired of Brazil and want to reach the amazing Bolivia? (through Cobija or Guyaramerin, both are feasible) Be prepared for a last effort.

You need to get out of the city and reach the University campus (UNIR - Campus José Ribeiro Filho, there is a nice hill where people go slow and have space to stop. You also have bathroom and wifi on the campus) and you have 2 ways to do this: stay there (-8.7717591, -63.8839249) and get a lift a little bit further (be ready to continue on foot until the campus, no one stops on the highway when you stick your thumb up). You can also try to talk with driver at the gas station Ipiranga before but there are too many people staying in the city. The other way is to take a bus for 4 real to the campus.

TowellessTraveler went on this road in September 2022 and had to walk all the distance until the campus. Only after waiting there a truck driver stopped.
