Hitchhiking out
West towards Kahramanmaraş, Ankara, Adana
To head towards Gölbaşı, Kahramanmaraş, Kayseri, Ankara, or Adana, you need to get to the Kahramanmaraş Road. You can take the "Kolej" public buses or municipal buses going towards "Küçük Sanayi." For municipal buses, get off at the last stop in front of Küçük Sanayi; for Kolej public buses, get off at the point where the line leaves the main road. From these spots, you can start hitchhiking directly.
Southeast towards Şanlıurfa
For Bozova or Şanlıurfa, follow the same instructions as for the west direction. After passing Özelevler, get out at the Şanlıurfa junction and continue hitchhiking from there. At the Şanlıurfa crossroads, you can also try the sesame ring dessert from the vendor who often stops there. :)
South towards Gaziantep
For Besni or Gaziantep, apply the same steps as for the west direction. The Besni-Gaziantep Road splits off after passing Şambayat.
North towards Malatya, Kayseri
To go to Malatya or Kayseri, follow the same instructions as for the west direction. Those heading to Malatya will take the turn at Gölbaşı. Although the Malatya Road passes through the Çelikhan district and there is also a mountain road, this road is not favorable for hitchhiking, so the route through the west is recommended.
Normally, the route through Kahramanmaraş is shorter for Kayseri, but based on experience, heading to Kayseri via Malatya is almost the same in duration and you don’t have to go through the city center of Kahramanmaraş. Therefore, this alternative route is also recommendable.
East towards Kâhta, Diyarbakır
For Kahta, Siverek, or Diyarbakır, you need to get to the Kahta Road. Take the minibuses (dolmuş) passing through the city center that go to Ziyaret. Get off at the last stop and start hitchhiking right where the city ends.
