Under no circumstances should anybody cross this bridge on foot. There is a lot of space to stop cars before they pass over the river. It is very dangerous (small path, too windy, lots of fast traffic, high above river, etc.)

For me, this is nonsense. There is a normal footpath where you can easily walk over the bridge, the view is beautiful, no border guard ever stopped us (July 2008) from walking over there, traffic is not that fast, and yes it's high above the river....it's a bridge, isn't it? It only takes you like 30-40 minutes to walk over from one side to the other. I feel a bit of paranoia in here, do I ? Anyway, more comments on this are welcome :) --Platschi 08:12, 17 April 2009 (UTC)
I agree. I walked over the bridge shortly before dawn in December. I showed my passport to the police on the Romanian side, and they wished me a pleasant walk over to the Bulgarian side. Wind wasn't a problem at all, and the pedestrian walkway is well shelted from the road cars traverse. CRCulver 12:29, 20 April 2009 (UTC)
