Balykchy is a city at the Western gateway of the beautiful Issyk-Kul Lake in Kyrgyzstan.

Hitching out

Avoid the bus station in the center. Taxi drivers will try to make your life a miserable hell.

West towards Bishkek

There is a check point called Titanik on the road from Balykchy to Bishkek. Accessible in half an hour by foot from roundabout in Balykchy. Wait for direct car to Bishkek.

East towards Cholpon-Ata

From the check point there is more traffic to the capital, but it remains the best place to find cars, especially tourists in summer, to the Issyk-Kul.
