Hitchhiking out

South towards Vologda, Yaroslavl, Moscow via M8

  • DPS post after the Novodvinsk junction, as well as a bus stop in the village of Dorozhnikov, 500 m after the post. Bus #144 from the Sea River Terminal goes to Novodvinsk. Bus #163 goes to the village of Belomorye. From the Novodvinsk bus, get off at the Zeleny Bor stop (2.5 km to the DPS post); for a similarly named minibus, you can ask to stop at the ascent to the Novodvinsk overpass (you walk 1.5 km less). From the bus to Belomorye, get off at Dorozhnikov village and start hitchhiking directly from the stop—do not go further. The first ride should be at least to the fork for Kholmogory (81st km of the highway).

West towards Severodvinsk and Onega via "Arkhangelsk Highway"

  • The turn from the M8 is after the village of Pirs, immediately to the right after the Arkhangelsk bridge. After the fork (already on Arkhangelsk Highway), the "Pirs" bus stop serves buses #105, 106, 133, 138, 150, 153, 25, 31, 81. Minibus 133E goes directly to Severodvinsk.

North towards the village of Talagi and further to Patrakeyevka, Lapominka, Izhma, and the "Grib Diamond Field" along the Talazhskoye Highway

  • A good position is the pontoon crossing over the Lodma River. Bus #136 goes there. After the crossing, bus #180 turns off. Bus #124 to Chasovenskaya goes several kilometers further north and turns towards Izhma.
  • You can also hitchhike from the Neftebaza–Airport junction, accessible by buses #12 and #134 from the Sea River Terminal (often abbreviated as MRT).
