Hitchhiking out

South towards Vologda, Yaroslavl, Moscow via M8

  • There is a traffic police post (DPS) after the Novodvinsk junction, and also a bus stop in the village of Dorozhnikov, 500 m past the post. Bus No. 144 from the Marine River Station goes to Novodvinsk, and bus No. 163 goes to the village of Belomorye. From the Novodvinsk bus, get off at the Zeleny Bor stop (2.5 km to the DPS post), or you can ask the minibus with the same name to stop at the ascent to the Novodvinsk overpass, which is 1.5 km closer. From the bus to Belomorye, get off at Dorozhnikov and start hitchhiking right from the stop—do not continue past it. Try to get a ride at least to the fork to Kholmogory (81st km of the highway).

West towards Severodvinsk and Onega via "Arkhangelsk Highway"

  • The turnoff from M8 is past the village of Pirsy, to the right just after the Arkhangelsk Bridge. After the junction (already on the Arkhangelsk Highway) is the "Pirsy" stop for buses No. 105, 106, 133, 138, 150, 153, 25, 31, 81. Minibus 133E goes directly to Severodvinsk.

North towards the village of Talagi and further to Patrakeevka, Lapominka, Izhma, and the "Grib Diamond Deposit" via Talazhskoye Highway

  • A good spot is the pontoon crossing over the Lodma River. You can get there by bus No. 136. Bus No. 180 also turns off after the crossing. Bus No. 124 towards Chasovenskaya goes a few more kilometers north and turns toward Izhma.
  • You can also hitchhike from the junction "Neftebaza–Airport," which can be reached, in addition to the above buses, by No. 12 and No. 134 from the Marine River Station (also known as MRV).
