Supposing you didn't hitchhike to Świecko, you can get there easily from the Słubice railway station. When you get out of the station, go left (southward) instead of right (as to the city of Słubice). You will soon see a lot of trucks, simply follow them and you will get to the checkpoint at the Polish-German border.

Important to know is the fact, that there is a petrol station in Western direction, so it is more than easy to find lift to Germany, but there is no petrol station on the other side, so it is not the best spot to stand or start from in Eastern direction (f.e. if you have been in Frankfurt before). Still it is possible to stand at the old check point.

It is also possible to get out here if you want to go to Frankfurt. Still it is a tough walk of around one hour and it will be difficult to catch a ride because traffic is fast and prostitutes are working here that might cause misunderstandings about your motives to stop a car.
Going East: Poznan, Warsaw, Lodz
If your driver is going to Berlin and you want to hitchhike further here is good place to get dropped. Sometimes, most cars seem to go only to Berlin (in the evening/at nightime?).
It might be even better to get out at the last petrol station in Poland a few kilometers before, because most drivers stop there to refill cheap fuel and buy cigarettes. Don't accept a lift to the next ("Biegener Hellen") service station in Germany (15-20km), very few people stop there.
Don't forget that cigarettes, food and drinks are much cheaper than they will be on the next stop in Germany, so buy the stuff you need. Even the toilet is for free and you save 0,70 Euro that you pay in Germany. If you need to sit down, this 0.70 are actually not so bad investation.
