Hitchhiking out

North towards Erzincan, Erzurum, Ankara

To go towards Pülümür, Erzincan, Erzurum, or Ankara, you need to get on Erzincan Road. For this, you should go down to the Munzur Bridge area from the city center, walk about 250 meters along Erzincan Road, and start hitchhiking exactly where the city ends.

The section of Tunceli-Erzincan Road up to Sansa Creek (the Erzincan-Erzurum Road) passes through a very mountainous valley and the road conditions are not very good. However, it does have certain functionality along the Black Sea-Southeast corridor.

South towards Elazığ, Ankara

To go towards Pertek, Elazığ, Ankara, or Bingöl, you need to get on Elazığ Road. Use municipal buses or minibuses toward Atatürk Neighborhood, Toki direction, and get off at the point where they drop you on Elazığ Road. From there, walk about 300 meters and start hitchhiking at the bend where the city ends.

The Tunceli-Elazığ Road actually passes through Pertek, but due to the Keban Dam being in between, a ferry operates there. Therefore, many people use the longer route over Kovancılar. If your ride will be going through Pertek and nearby, it is important that the vehicle can cross to Elazığ by ferry. If you are going via Kovancılar, there is no issue; this longer route is quite commonly chosen.
