Take the metro to the station ''Famagosta''. When you exit to the street, to the east you will see a bridge. This is the A7 motorway. You then have to walk a couple of minutes north parallel with the bridge to where the motorway begins. There is a traffic light and a petrol station. It is best to stand a couple of meters north of the traffic light, next to the petrol station entrance, with a sign. Cars are going slowly (or stopping at the traffic light) and there is enough room for a car to stop easily.
Edit August 2018: When you leave the station head to where all the buses are and walk to the far end. Turn right and you will see the entrance to the motorway. Though it didn’t seem like the best of places. The other nearby entrance to the motorway has zero space to walk let alone for a car to stop.
Another option is to just catch bus 46 after you leave Famagosta. Take it just 1? stop about 5 minutes. There is a pizza place called Fratelli Diversi by the bus stop. (Big green sign). Ahead you’ll see a pedestrian bridge over the motorway which leads right to a service station on the highway and the advantage of being able to talk to people.
