Kirov (Russian: Киров) is a city in Russia, the administrative center of Kirov Oblast. It is located 896 km northeast of Moscow, on the Vyatka River.

Hitchhiking out

North towards Syktyvkar and Ukhta via R176 "Vyatka"

• The cheapest option is to take bus 3 or 14 to the final stop "Silikatny Zavod" or bus 33. After that, walk straight past the interchange and choose your hitchhiking spot.

Northwest towards Yoshkar-Ola, Cheboksary, and Kostroma via R176 "Vyatka"

• The cheapest option is to take bus 3 or 14 to the final stop "Silikatny Zavod" or bus 33. Then walk past the interchange and choose your spot.
• Before the police checkpoint, there is the "Chyornoye Ozero" stop, where suburban buses 107, 113, 130, 131, 138, 147, and 158 stop. You can also go further along the highway on these buses. Bus 131 goes the farthest, to the "Goltsy" stop.

To Kostroma: near Kotel'nich, switch to route 33R-004 (after Kirov Oblast, the road is in bad condition and traffic is low, but still exists).

Northeast towards Perm, Slobodskoy, Belaya Kholunitsa, Omutninsk, Afanasyevo via 33P-003

• Bus 21 to the stop "Poroshinsky Povort", walk a little further and hitchhike at the petrol station. (Chances are high you'll only get a ride to Slobodskoy; if you don't want to walk through the town, use the next option, but it is more expensive)
• Suburban bus 102 goes to the Slobodskoy bus station. To avoid walking back from the bus station to the highway, ask to be let off at the second to last stop "Ul. Lenina" near the Globus supermarket. You can leave the city by walking past the bridge over the Vyatka.

Southwest towards Strizhi and Orichi via 33N-120

• City buses 101, 116, and 153 go to Pobedilovsky Trakt. The farthest suburban buses are 127 to Bystritsa and 155 to Levintsy.

South towards Nizhny Novgorod, Sovetsk, and Yaransk via regional road 33R-008 "Sovetsky Trakt"

• Take bus 90 to the stop "Povorot TEC", the hitchhiking spot is just after the intersection.
• Sovetsky Trakt begins at the Yuzhny Obkhod. There is a police checkpoint at the interchange, and a "On Demand (Traffic Police post)" stop for bus 115 from the bus station. (Not recommended, the benefit is just filtering traffic, but you'll easily get a ride to the checkpoint anyway.)

To Nizhny Novgorod: at Yaransk switch to the 33P-015 route.

South towards Malmyzh and Vyatskie Polyany via 33P-002 "Kazansky Trakt"

• Buses 46 and 87 to the "Ul. Kommunisticheskaya" stop in Novovyatsk, then walk 1 km along the highway.
• Suburban bus 110 from the bus station to the final stop "pos. Rechnoy."

Attention! It's better not to use this road for Kazan: mostly local traffic and bad road surface. The best option is via "Sovetsky Trakt."

East towards Kirovo-Chepetsk, Zuevka, Falenki, Demaki via 33R-013

• Suburban buses 103, 109, 110, 125, 154 from the bus station go to the turn-off for Chepetsk ("Kazansky Povorot" stop). Bus 103 goes to Chepetsk bus station.

This is also the shortest road to Izhevsk, but between Falenki and Yar at the oblast border, traffic is very low since the road is unpaved for 30-70 km.
