Hitchhiking out

North and northeast towards Łódź, Toruń, Gdańsk 1 E 75 and Warszawa 8 E 67

Take free Tesco bus 203 which starts close to the main bus station. Get off at the shopping centre and go back to one of the petrol stations next to Tesco. The biggest of them is the second one and most trucks stop there. National road 1 to Łódź is a dual carriegeway with at grade junctions mostly with traffic lights, so you can try hitching also on the junction next to the petrol station. EDIT 2013 The best place towards Łódź, Toruń, Gdańsk, Warsaw is still next to the "Tesco Extra". There are still 2 petrol stations ("BP" and "Orlen") but it's much better to HH on a road 50-100m further. Cars are very slow (35-45km/h) and there is plenty of space to stop. It takes 5-10min to get a ride to Warsaw, and 10-15min for Łódź. Only Tesco bus, goes to this part of town. It takes about 45min by walk from the city center to get there.
