Cherkessk (Russian: Черкесск) is a city in Russia, located in the south of the country on the banks of the Kuban River. It is the main industrial, economic, and cultural center of Karachay-Cherkessia.

Hitchhiking in
Cherkessk is accessed via a branch off the "Kavkaz" highway. There are also two commuter trains from Nevinnomyssk, travel time is about 1.5 hours.

The bypass road runs to the north, through the village of Chapaevskoe.
North towards Nevinnomyssk via R217 "Kavkaz"
Ten years ago, there was a police checkpoint before the Kuban bridge. This location is likely still good for hitchhiking. The current police post is at the turn to the village of Erken-Yurt.
South towards Ust-Dzheguta and Karachaevsk via A155
You need to get to the end of Lenin Avenue.
East towards Lermontov via A165
Look for transport towards the meat processing plant on Pyatigorskoe Highway. After the plant, there is a roundabout with the bypass road. Landmark: a tank in the center of the intersection.
West towards Zelenchuk via R265
After the river, the road begins to climb a hill. You can look for a spot after the settlement of Zarechny.
