Take the IKEA bus from the crossroad of ''Hallera'' and ''Powstańców Sląskich'' to '''''Bielany''''' shopping center, it's 1 Zloty. Get off infront of IKEA and walk towards the Tesco. In the corner turne left towards the instersction, becareful, it's tricky to cross the street. Follow the road some 50 meters until you reach what I think is some kind of warehouse complex, go around (left side), after some 150 meters you will reach the petrol station. It took me 10 minutes to find a ride.

Take bus 604 to the end of route. From there you have to only cross the tracks on the left and you will be on very long straight road with very wide shoulder of road. Another option to go there is taking the bus D, and go to the end of route and from there you have to cross a few building and go to the road (more or less 800m). You will be in the same place from first option but on the second side of road.

Wrocław (pronounced vrots-wahf) is a city in southwestern Poland.

Hitchhiking out

West towards Berlin, Dresden (D) A4 E 40

Take the free Auchan bus from Dworzec PKS (the main bus station) to Bielany shopping centre. Get off at the last stop and you will see a petrol station from there. Just go directly towards it without crossing any streets (only these belonging to Auchan's car park). On the petrol station you can ask people for a ride or try to hitch on a sliproad next to the station. You can also take free Tesco bus from the crossroad of Hallera and Powstańców Sląskich to shopping center Bielany (timetable; first are shown departures from the city center). Get off at the last stop, go right along the Tesco (way back) to Czekoladowa street, then turn left (along the Tesco), then cross the street, go under the bridge (motorway), turn right and go along the motorway across the field, you'll get to the petrol station and you will be in the same place as in the Auchan bus option.

Or take tram 17 to Klecina (20min from main station). Get out at the final stop, walk back some meters and turn right to Skrajna street. After 150m turn left and after 50m right again into Jeździecka street. After 200m you will reach a main street that goes directly to the motorway A4. There is a big BP petrol station, the last one before the motorway, where you can ask people. It's about 30 minutes walking.

"Hitchhikewoman Jack stood there over one hour on a monday at 6.30am! Everybody went towards Krakow. If this is happening you, ask drivers to drop you off near the motorway, and walk to Orlen gas station (See above)."

On the left there's Tesco market and the petrol station for rides to the east, on the right would be Auchan market and you can see the petrol station for rides towards Germany

East towards Katowice, Kraków A4 E 40

Take the free Tesco bus from the crossroad of Hallera and Powstańców Sląskich to Bielany shopping centre (timetable). Get off at the last stop, go right along the Tesco (way back) to Czekoladowa street, then turn left (along the Tesco), then turn right to cross the street and go straight along the motorway across the field (don't go under the bridge) and one small exit from the motorway, you'll get to the petrol station where you can ask people for a ride or try to hitch on a sliproad next to the station (the same situation as going towards Germany, you're just on the other side of the motorway).

Northeast towards Łódź, Warszawa 8 E 67

Take bus 604 to the end of route. From there you have to only cross the tracks on the left and you will be on very long straight road with very wide shoulder of road. Another option to go there is taking the bus D, and go to the end of route and from there you have to cross a few building and go to the road (more or less 800m). You will be in the same place from first option but on the second side of road.

"It's very good place, a lot of times I caught a ride from there directly to Warsaw. If you go to Warsaw use the sign <<Warszawa>>." - Anonymous

It's possible to take the bus 128, getting off at the stop Psie Pole, and walk in the direction of the train station. Start hitching in front of the train station, before the bus stop (the train station is on the opposite side of the road)

North towards Poznań, Bydgoszcz 5 E 261

Take tram 1, 7 or 15 direction Marino and get off at the last stop. Then go to the other side of the main road and start hitching at the bus stop. You will be well seen by the drivers who stop at traffic lights. You can also take the bus 129 - direction Ośrodek Rehabilitacji, get off at the stop Marino and start hitching.

NEED TO BE UPDATED when the work on the road will be over : A ring road is now finished and most of the traffic to the north is passing a few hundred meters away. It's now senseless to hitch at Marino. You still can come to Marino and then walk until you pass the ring "bridge"and hitch there, cars have space to stop on the speeding up lane. I don't thinks it worth to go further for now since there is work on the road and cars wont have space to stop and they will not see you. I think they are working on the A8 and I expect the hitch hiking spot to change when they finish. The bus 129 (and some others) has some stop after Marino but I don't know the bus stop's name. --Bikepunk 16:00, 9 August 2011 (CEST)

Update of 23.09.2011

There has been recently created a perfect spot to hitch direction north (by the NR#5 to Poznań).

It is a lay-by for buses #308 timetable &#809 timetable. It is situated 50 meters right on slip-off from the roundabout.

The bus stop is called "Żmigrodzka (Obwodnica)"

The merged traffic from the city center and the transit one from the A4 motorway is brought here by the newly constructed Wroclaw Ringroad(A8)& passes U by :-). Cars go slowly while leaving the roundabout so driver can see you easily & has enough time to pull over. It is also a place of a frequent traffic jam occurance

As 1 image is worth 1000 words- have a look @ my photo of the place

So once U manage to take one of the buses It will bring U directly to the hitching spot.

Both timetables show departure times from Wrocław Nadodrze bus station. Here is its exact location shown on the googlemaps

U may still come to Marino bus stop and walk up to the round about Here is the bus #129 itinerary visualized on the map (scroll down the page) together with the line timetable to make it easy to find the closest place to get into the bus. --Jurarafal 17:42, 26 September 2011 (CEST)

South towards Kłodzko, Prague (CZ) 8 E 67

Option 1

Take the free Auchan bus from inside Dworzec PKS (the main bus station) to Bielany shopping centre and get off at the last stop. Walk along the main road which goes above the motorway till you get to the bus stop just after the traffic lights, where you can hitch.

Option 2

Take the free Tesco bus from the crossroad of Hallera and Powstańców Sląskich which goes to the same shopping centre, but Tesco is on the other (southern) side of the motorway and it's pretty tricky to cross on foot. From there walk east (near Castorama) till you get to the national road 8 (E67).

Option 3

Take "Bielany Bus" that costs 1 zloty and stops on the bus stop "E.P.I." near Arkady Wroclawskie. The bus also goes to Tesco. When you get there you must go behind the shopping center and get to the bridge which is above the road you're at. The best road to Prague is the one through Kudowa Zdroj and Hradec Kralove becouse all of the trucks are going this way (E67).

Free Internet Access

One of the tourist information centers on the Rynek - one that is also a coffee shop - has two computers with free internet access for tourists. Only internet/email - no VOIP, etc. - and only 20 minutes per person. It's on the inside of the square, facing south, right next to the church and behind a statue.
