Myshkin has never hitchhiked anywhere before (any more than one mile before having the van stopped by the police) but plans to make a hitchhiking trip in September around Eastern Europe and the Balkans for 3 to 4 weeks. He is from the UK and has been living in Prague, Czech Republic for the last 18 months.
He has found this site incredibly useful so far, and looks forward to making some (hopefully) valuable input on these pages soon.

Queries
Has anybody hitched/camped in Serbia, Bosnia, Montenegro or Croatia away from the cities? I've read about some areas being unsafe because of landmines still being around. Does anyone know how common/dangerous they are, considering I could be doing a lot of 'free' camping in these areas?
