Trofors is the administrative centre of Grane municipality in Norway. Its population is 808 (as of 2008). European route E6 passes through the village and branches off to a national road (riksvei) nr.73 which heads through Hattfjelldal to Sweden.
Despite the fact that E6 passes through this village, it is a pretty dead road during the off-season (hitchhiker Sigurdas got stuck there for 24 hours while thumbing from the North towards Oslo; there can literally be no more than 10 cars a day passing through this village), although there are many tourists heading for the Northern fjords and/or Nordkapp during the summer time which is always good news for any hitchhiker traveling in this area.
When traveling in winter, warm and windproof clothes are essential!
