When hitchhiking from Pécs to [[Budapest]], take a local bus (240 forint, roughly 1 euro{but it's easy to blitz, just watch the controllers}) to Budai Allomas bus stop. Although the road 6/E73 goes straight through Pécs, you simply won't get a ride inside the city. At Budai Allomas you'll get one fast.
