The Canadian capital city is located in its territory just at the border with Quebec. The provincial capital but also a country's metropole is Toronto.

Ontario is the longest province to cross during a journey from east to west as it is the only province in the country that is actually more wide than high. Crossing Ontario by car takes more than 24h non-stop.

Keep in mind that hitchhiking in Ontario is technically illegal, and if you are asked about your methods of travel when crossing into Ontario from the United States, it might save you some time to tell the border officers a white lie that you plan on taking a bus.
