Heading North or East, towards Maastricht (A25) 25, Aachen, Köln (A3) 42
Bus 17 from the bus station at Liege-Guillemins, or bus 18 from Leopold, until busstop Nancy. Then walk north through Avenue de Nancy and you will arrive at the A25-access lane on the corner Avenue de Nancy / Avenue Georges Truffaut. Or bus 76 from Leopold until busstop Intermosane, then cross the bridge (Pont de l'Atlas) and walk west along Avenue Georges Truffaut to the motorway access lane.
Best to use a sign Maastr.Maastricht or NL. If you go towards Aachen and Köln, best is to use a sign with "Barchon" , where is the first petrol station(which you could also reach by bus, see below).
=== Heading South for East towards LuxembourgAachen, etc (A3) 42 ===Go Bus 67 from Gare Leopold direction Vise until busstop Carrefour in Barchon; this is the "Luxembourg" sign busstop just after crossing the A3-motorway. The ride is about 34 minutes. From the roundabout near busstop walk back over the Angleur train station in motorway (bridge), then go southeast on the very south of Liege cityN604 Champs de Tignee. There appears to be a bus service to and from this area. Here After about 2 km you will find an area for a car to pull over before the motorway rush beginspetrol station Aire de Barchon on your left hand side.
Alternatively you can take === Heading South for Arlon, Luxembourg (A26) 25 ===Access lane of A26 x N633, situated 250 meters from the Angleur railway station. Bus 377 from the bus 65 and go down station at the Liege-Guillemins, or bus 26 from Republique Francaise stop Chênéevery nearby. There you will have to walk 500 m Leopold, until busstop Nancy. Sign Arlon / Luxembourg is a good idea. After some 15 kms is the traffic lights, just before the entrance motorway petrol station of the motorwaySprimont.
Heading West for Leuven, Brussels (A3) 40or Namur, Charleroi (A15) 42
There are some fairly average on-ramps to the E25/A602 within walking distance of the city centre. Tom tried the on-ramp on Rue St. Laurent, which worked fine for him. The on-ramp on Jardin Jean-Bernard Lejeune looks like another good option. Ask the driver to take you to the first service station on the road you are taking.*On the E40/A3 to Brussels, the first service station is "aire de Bettincourt Noord", north west of Waremme, about 25km from Liège.*On the E42/A15 to Charleroitunnel, ignore the first service station is "Verlaine Nordno pedestrian", north-east of Huy, about 20km from Liège. == Resources == === Occupied Social Centers === The CSOA Passe-partout, an "occupied social centre" (or squatsign) in the city centre, proposes several activities such as :* A vegetarian/vegan dinner every Friday* A bicycle workshop every Wednesday (2pm to 6pm)* A second-hand clothes shop every Tuesday (11am to 3pm) The Pigeon communal proposes :* A bar and vegan dinner one Wednesday per month* And some nice cultural events. You pay what you wantis a good place, but please pay anyway. === Other second-hand shops === The Oxfam Solidarity program provides several shops in the city centre. Blackriding is quite difficult. Each passenger is supposed to show his ticket to the driver when going on board, and regular routine controls are conducted. Although, the bus drivers are often in a hurry, and won't always actually look at your ticket if you're showing it by yourself. This is especially true during the rush hours.A good compromise is the one day ticket, which cost eur 3.00 and allows you to use all the buses in the urban area (delimitations are shown on bus stops panels). The company's little stores near the main bus stops (Saint Lambert, Gare Léopold, Pont d'Avroy) as well as the offices (i.e. in the main train station)== Trashwiki & Nomadwiki ==
The main train station is nomad:Liège-Guillemins (busses #1, #4, and many others). The province is well served by the SNCB/NMBSLiège, but recent budget cuts may change this situation. Ticket controls are not systematics on regional lines, but keep in mind that the fine may be up to eur 150.
