Hitching east towards Germany is harder since there's no obvious place to start hitching. Probably the best is the from traffic light at the crossing of the Europaweg and the Sontweg (close to Ikea). There's a bus stop right after the traffic lights, so people can stop for you. Since the city changed the howl motorway south-east it might be better to go walkin a bit. Pass the Ikea and follow the road than you will meet the highway, follow it left and there will be quiet a good spot, however it is industrial zone so not recommmandable in the night or weekend or go right wihich I haven`t tried yet but should be better. People heading east usually don't go very long distance, so you are likely to end up at the border crossing after a few rides. It's possible to get here directly by train, as is described below.

People at these two spots can, however, still drive towards the West or South. The best spot is therefore at the end of the Euvelgunnerweg. It's quite far away, so might not be an option if you could consider to hitch don't have a bike or someone to drop you off. Here all cars are going on the motorway eastwards, so all cars would do. Many are not going very far, but the first petrol station is already before the first exit.
