Volokolamsk (Russian: Волоколамск) is a large and elongated city (11 km from the Station Settlement to Shchyokino) in Moscow Oblast, Russia.

Hitchhiking out

West towards Shakhovskaya, and further to Rzhev, Velikiye Luki, and via the Burachki border crossing to Riga on the M9 ("Baltia" highway)

• Traffic police post at the merging of Volokolamskoye and Novorizhskoye highways. Located near the bus station.
• Western end of the Riga junction—road narrowing.

East towards Moscow on the M9 ("Baltia" highway)

• Traffic police post next to the bus station.

North towards Lotoshino and Klin via R108 and R107

• Turnoff to Lotoshino and Klin in the village of Maslennikovo. Buses: 28, 50, 467. The furthest bus is 31/55 to Shestakovo. Get off at the turn from the highway, there is a bus stop.

South towards Ruza via R108

• To the village of Spas by buses 26, 29.

• Due to the old pre-trial detention center located in the city center, hotels are traditionally expensive.
• The only hostel is a mini-hotel for truck drivers, located south of the M-9. From the junction, an electrical substation and garages are visible behind it. Follow a path around the electricians' fence and through the garages to Ovragnaya Street. To the right is a tall migration service building, and below near the truck parking area is a two-story brick hostel building. Book in advance at +7-968-3711200, as it is popular with business travelers, truck drivers, etc. Shared facilities, minimal kitchenware, hot shower, Wi-Fi. Only one outlet in the room. In May 2017, a bed in a double room cost 600 rubles.
