Aksay (Russian: Аксай) is a satellite city of Rostov-on-Don in Russia. The city has a North Caucasus Railway station, which can be used to leave the Rostov agglomeration for the "Don" highway (M4), which here consists of several toll and free motorways with their own specifics for hitchhiking. There are also minibuses and buses running to Aksay until late at night.

Hitchhiking out
South towards Krasnodar via the free M4 motorway
- It makes sense to get off at the "Steklozavod" railway station and hitchhike from there along Gulaev Street to the interchange with M4. Just south of this interchange is a police checkpoint (DPS) before the bridge over the river. Several buses on this street go to the left bank of the Don and will take you to the turn to the Rostov port, but that spot is worse than near the police checkpoint.
- Behind the DPS post before the Aksay bridge, a "Metro" hypermarket has opened. It’s unclear if there are buses or minibuses to it.
South towards Krasnodar via the toll bypass of Rostov-on-Don
- Take the commuter train three stops past "Aksay" station (towards Novocherkassk) to the stop "1993 km." From there it’s only 1.5 km on foot to the interchange in the village of Bolshoy Log.
- Buses 152a, 236, 512, 515 and minibuses 111 and 223 will also take you to Bolshoy Log.
North towards Voronezh and Moscow via Template:M
- Between the Novocherkassk interchange and Bolshoy Log on the toll road, there is the toll point 1046, which can be considered a key hitchhiking spot both to Krasnodar and to Moscow. Find out how to reach it and update the description!
North towards Novocherkassk and Shakhty via the Novocherkassk Highway
- From the "Steklozavod" platform, walk or hitchhike to the police checkpoint near the Aksay bridge.
- Buses 124, 133, 155v, 156, 232, 236, 240, 511, 512 and minibuses 2, 128a, 223, 240 go to "Aksayskiy povorot" stop opposite the "Mega" shopping center. Here, traffic from Aksay and Rostov merges towards Novocherkassk. Disadvantages: many local people ("seals") hitchhike here and there is a large flow of taxis.
