Hitchhiking out
South towards Vologda, Yaroslavl, Moscow via M8
- DPS post after the Novodvinsk junction, as well as a bus stop in the settlement of Dorozhnikov 500 m past the post. Bus №144 goes to Novodvinsk from the Marine River Station. Bus №163 goes to the settlement of Belomorye. From the Novodvinsk bus, get off at the Zeleny Bor stop (2.5 km to the DPS post); you can also ask a minibus with the same name to stop at the ascent to the Novodvinsk overpass, which saves 1.5 km of walking. From the bus to Belomorye, get off in Dorozhnikov and start hitchhiking directly from the stop—do not go further. When catching your first ride, aim at least for the fork to Kholmogory (81st km on the highway).
West towards Severodvinsk and Onega via "Arkhangelskoye Highway"
- The turn from the M8 is after the settlement of Pirsy, immediately to the right past the Arkhangelsk bridge. After the junction (already on the Arkhangelskoye Highway) is the "Pirsy" stop for buses №105, 106, 133, 138, 150, 153, 25, 31, 81. Minibus 133E goes directly to Severodvinsk.
North towards the settlement of Talagi and further to the villages of Patrakeevka, Lapominka, Izhma, and the "Grib Diamond Deposit" via Talazhskoye Highway
- A good spot is the pontoon crossing over the Lodma River, which can be reached by bus №136. Bus №180 also turns after the crossing. Bus №124 to the village of Chasovenskaya goes a bit further north and turns to Izhma.
- You can also hitchhike from the Neftezbaza–Airport junction. This is accessible by buses №12 and №134 from the Marine River Station (MRV).
