Some organizations and people organize regular events to hitchhike for charity.
Regular events
Link Community Development
The Hitch is a large fundraising event organizedd by Link Community Development. It's the biggest organised hitchhiking event in the UK, and probably in the world. Over 5,500 people have taken part in the Hitch since it started in 1992, raising more than £2.5million for LCD’s projects in sub-Saharan Africa. In 2010 over 1200 people have thumbed their way to Morocco or Prague.
