Hitching away from Liège is said to be difficult, because of the so-called ''Spaghetti Motorway system''. On the other hand it is not impossible to get lifts along the former transit-route of the E25 straight through the city of Liege alongside the Maas-river. Provided you are familiar which used to be the pre-motorway era transit route you can quite successfully hitch out of Liege along that transit route using a sign Lux (embourg) or Arlon heading towards the Ardennes, or a sign Vise, Maastr (icht) or NL heading north. The transit route, not marked anymore any more by signs "transit" these days, remains the fastest way to get through Liege by car during most of the time.

Get bus 66 (direction ''Herstal'') Bus 17 from the main train bus stationat Liege-Guillemins, or bus 18 from Leopold, until busstop Nancy. Get off in an industrial estate beside Then walk north through Avenue de Nancy and you will arrive at the A25-access lane on the motorwaycorner Avenue de Nancy / Avenue Georges Truffaut. Near here there is a motorway exit for traffic going towards MaastrichtOr bus 76 from Leopold until busstop Intermosane, etc. This access lane next to then cross the bridge ''(Pont de l'Atlas'', about 700 meter from ''Liege-Bressoux'' train station. Best ) and walk west along Avenue Georges Truffaut to use a sign ''Maastrthe motorway access lane.'' or ''NL'' or simply a lot of self confidence ;)

You can also take bus 1 direction Best to use a sign ''Maastricht'' or ''NL''. If you go towards Aachen and Köln, best is to use a sign with "CoronmeuseBarchon", get off at where is the terminus and cross the bridge. Best spot is on your rightfirst petrol station (which you could also reach by bus, the access lane that pass under the bridgesee below).

If you go === Heading East towards [[Aachen and Koln, best ]] (A3) {{E|42}} ===Bus 67 from Gare Leopold direction Vise until busstop Carrefour in Barchon; this is to use a sign with "Barchon" where the busstop just after crossing the A3-motorway. The ride is about 34 minutes. From the first gas busstop walk back over the motorway (bridge), then go southeast on the N604 Champs de Tignee. After about 2 km you will find motorway petrol stationAire de Barchon on your left hand side.

Bus 377 from the very south of bus station at Liege city. There appears to be a -Guillemins, or bus service to and 26 from this areaRepublique Francaise stop very nearby. Here you will find an area for Leopold, until busstop Nancy. Sign Arlon / Luxembourg is a car to pull over before good idea. After some 15 kms is the motorway rush beginspetrol station of Sprimont.

Alternatively you can take the bus 65 and go down at the bus stop Chênée. There you will have to walk 500 m until the traffic light, just before the entrance of the motorway.  === Heading West for [[Leuven]], [[Brussels]] (A3) {{E|40}}or [[Namur]], [[Charleroi]] (A15) {{E|42}} ===

There are some fairly average on-ramps to the [[A602_(Belgium)|E25/A602]] within walking distance of the city centre. [[User:Tmoon|Tom]] tried the on-ramp on Rue St. Laurent, which worked fine for him. There you can find everything you may need. A good place for dumpster diving as well. It might also be a good place to remember whenever you're looking for free toilets. === Going out === In the district called "Le Carré", there is plenty of pubs open until the late morning. The entrance is usually free. But if you're looking for something more alternative, you should have a look at because the entrance of the association called "Aquilone", Boulevard de Saucy. There cars are a lot of flyers and posters to advertise the upcoming events of the underground scene of the citypassing rather fast. http://liege.demosphere.eu/ is an alternative cultural agenda that gives info about all kind of stuff happening in all the different alternative places in Liege and around (lectures, concerts, workshops, theater, parties, etc.) === Public transports ===

The main train station is [[nomad:Liège-Guillemins (busses #1, #4, and many others). The province is well desserved by the ]] [[httptrash://www.b-rail.be/main/E/ SNCB/NMBSLiège]], but recent budget cuts may change this situation. Ticket controls are not systematics on regional lines, but keep in mind that the fine may be up to 150 €.
