Walk away from the station of Brugge, direction A17 is your best shotGoogle maps: 56J4+H3G Bruges. Heading St-Michiels, at the Koning Albert laan, there are some Gas stations, and this road leads to all major motorways. It's still easy to stop here for cars to pick someone up. To get to there from the Brugge train station you can take Take bus number 7 heading for cinema center /27 to Kinepolis and then . There’s a layby just follow after the people going to last roundabout before the cinema:)motorway, as it is located very close to the motorways. Addition or some gas stations earlier on 8 Feb 2011: Reconstruction of the 'Expresweg' of E403/N351 around Bruges, makes it now NOT the best place to hitchhike out of Bruges. Before it were good, fast and safe spots. Now I would prefer Method 2.

Walk the N397 right down to the Roundabout to the E403 after the Kineopolis Bridge there is a parking line for trucks. Position yourself close to the ramp to the roundabout. Took me 30 minutes to find a ride.

A night there cost 14 EUR for a tent, BUT it is possible to get in there for free. When you arrive at the camping spot, just turn right before their fence, follow the fence, till you find a small gate, which is open.
