San Martin de los Andes is a tourist resort at Lago Lacar in Southwest [[Argentina]].

Many tourists stop their itinerary in San Martin de los Andes, only few continue to [[Junin de los Andes]], mostly travellers which go back to Buenos Aires by car. Still, RN40 remains trafficked enough to get a hitch within a reasonable time.
=== South towards [[Villa La Angostura]] and [[Bariloche]] on RN40 ===
This stretch of RN40 has loads of tourist traffic. Try to catch other tourists which will let you stop once in a while. After two thirds of the way, there is a turnoff to [[Villa Traful]] on RP65, which is a more remote and as scenery route as the popular RN40. However, travelling here will make you miss most of the road part at Lago Nahuel Huapi.

San Martin de los Andes is very expensive. There is an ACA camp spot when leaving the town on RN40 towards North.
