In Dubach, a little town north of Ruston, the chief of police gave me the usual line about it being illegal to hitchhike. I argued with him and he started yelling and swearing, and acting generally unprofessional. He said he didn't care what the text of the law said, he wasn't going to allow hitchhikers in his town.
