btw, nothing to boast about (although I'm starting to be a tiny bit proud): In Europe, I've hitched rides in Switzerland, Austria, Germany, Slovakia, Hungary, France, Belgium, England, Scotland, Northern Ireland, Ireland and Wales so far; in the US in Connecticut, Massachusetts and Vermont. Add Argentina, Chile, Uruguay, Paraguay, Bolivia and Peru and you'll get the picture.
