There is a ''[[liftershalte]]'', a special spot for hitchhiknig, at the beginning of the [[A2 (Netherlands)|A2]] near the soccer stadium ''De Geusselt'' (Viaductweg x N2/A2) (direction [[Eindhoven]]) and the [[A79 (Netherlands)|A79]] (direction [[Heerlen]]). Though with the future upgrade of the N2 to [[A2 (Netherlands)|A2]] this [[liftershalte]] might be receded! So please leave some hitchhiking sign there everytime you hitchhike so that the authorities might change their mind.Bus 2 (direction Nazareth) arrives near the motorway from the Central Train Station.
It is also possible to use this spot to hitchhike towards the motorway [[Aachen]] and then on to [[Köln]] and further. However, it is not always simple to catch somebody crossing the boarder (30-60 minutes waiting-time on average). Some people recommend to catch a lift to [[Heerlen]] and then catch another one to [[Aachen]].
