I was thinking and talking about hitchhiking before I did it for real the first time. Everybody in my environment told me not to do it, "its dangerous", "we will get stuck somewhere", you know all these helpful guides which never hitched on their own. Then I searched the internet for information about hitchhiking, first saw the site of Veit Kühne then the one from Ludovic Hubler, then the site of [[abgefahren e.V.]] They, especially the storys from Ludovic made me go out! Today after I have hitched some kilometers I want to share my knowledge too and maybe make some new people to go out and give it a try. I think this is possible by taking away the fear by adding as much information as I can. Everybody will read and then see, there is no reason for fear.

I am digging the shit out working here. I'm from the U.S. and that's where I have traveled. Whole states don't have pages! I get to write whatever I believe is true for so much of the US- if you're a hitchhiker from the US you should totally sign up and start working here, so much fun to write 3 sentence snap judgments of a place and have that be the page- I find snap judgments of a place are often revealed to be incredibly true.

This website is what I wished Wikipedia was when I was on Wikipedia: Free! A frontier! Not 10,000 bullshit admins saying if you don't want to learn the exact way to puntuate and cite everything we don't want your contributions!
