==Title: 789 Newsletter: Let's hitch with Frankenstein!==
When was your last hitch-hiking trip? Looking forward to yet the next!? Try this spring in Europe! Weather gets better (by periods), days get longer, no need to wake up sooo early, people don't like to leave hitchers standing in the uncertain weather... and why wait waiting for summertime in the first place?
It also gets you into gear for the next hitch-hiking week in Europe, taking place on 789, the '''7th of August 2009'''. The poll on the location was massively in favour of Odessa, Ukraine.
Website
There is a web domain at http://the789project.eu . Right now it's hosting a draft website that which main job is to redirect to our coordination forum. As soon as possible, it should be our main PR portal. All it takes is a Drupal/CSS artist with some time on his hands. We need YOU.
Coordination
However controversial that might be, a Google google group was created to concentrate the coordination for the festival. You'll find it over there. Anyone can join and everyone is invited to.
Getting in touch with the community
Of course, we need want to be in close touch with the hitch-hiking community in Ukraine and local community in Odessa. Some of us have contacted the Elba Ukrainian hitch-hiker's gathering (site in Russian, English auto-translation here), that takes place three times a year. The next one will be from the 24th to the 26th of April and , but unfortunately we ran into a cold war with them (like in the good old times...) . So you can maybe throw some flowers of peace over there (in Russian too, English auto-translation here).
The hospex (ie. CS) community of Odessa has given a warmer welcome. We hope to find some support in organising the festival hand in hand with the local authorities, as much as possible of course.
Slogans: seven, eight, nine!
789 needs a good storyline, a sentence that grabs the attention immediately, one that is easy to remember and great to use. When Like when we were in Paris for the European Hitch-hiking Day at : "8/8/8/ - Paris wants you for a nomadic date".Having a good catch-phrase for 789 is not sooo important, but that's the kind of really fun brainstorming that we love to do. Check this outand feel free to participate.
Odessa calling
789 doesn't need to be over organised. On the other hand, some stuff can be done between now and August, that will save us a lot of troubles when we're there and don't want to care about troubles. You can help the festival to be a greater success by telling all your friends and spreading the word, and of course by joining the discussion on the coordination channels. Namely: The hitchwiki page and the coordination group. Right now we have around 7 people more or less involved in the organisation. It'd be great if the 150 of 888 would joinas well. Wouldn't it?
Happy hitching!
