The city is situated within a ring road (''le périphérique'', or ''le périph'') and whilst the actual city is relatively small, it is surrounded by endless suburbs. There are plenty of excellent spots for hitchhiking North (''Aire La Courneuve'') and , East ([[petrol station]]s and ''[[barrières de péage]]''). and also South (''Aire de Villabé'')
