Connecticut, in the United States, watch out for mosquitos and black flies in the north east, the mosquitos can be ravenous. People are very friendly in Connecticut for the most part. There is a pretty high ratio of rich stuck up yuppies though.
Hitchhiking along I-95 is not difficult as Connecticut maintains a very nice system of rest stops and service plazas across the state. Walk onto one and put your thumb out and you shouldn't have to wait long for a ride. In addition, several New York-Boston bus lines (Chinatown to Chinatown, 15 US$) make stops at the Fairfield service plaza (exit 21), and it is possible to talk your way on for free or a reduced price if you're a good negotiator.
