You can basically try it a lot closer to the city than the hitchiking spots [[User:fabzgy|fabzgy]] mentioned. The Panamerican Highway passes right through the city. For long distance trips [[User:fabzgy|fabzgy]]recommends the spots on the map because there most of the [[Valle Central]] traffic is filtered out.

For the direction [[Puntarenas]], [[Limon]] or [[Nicaragua]] take a bus to ''Alajuella'' and drop of at the peage station or at the airport. Should be allright to hitchhike out from there.
