Experience report on hitchhiking spot
April 2024: Unfortunately, after the reconstruction the entrance doesn't make such a good hitchhiking spot anymore. Hitchhiking is still possible, but stopping has became much more difficult for drivers. The Barje rest stop is recommended instead, or try to get a pick from the Petrol gas pump on Tržaška cesta.
September 2024: I was able to get a ride to Postonja from here within 5 minutes in a rainstorm. It looked like a not very ideal spot but it worked. The above mentioned spot in Postonja worked very well for getting towards Rijeka. If you do not feel comfortable crossing the bridge in a sidewalk or shoulder (which I didn't want to do in a rainstorm) it's possible with a roughly 40 minute diversion to find a pedestrian underpass to the west and then looping down to the above-mentioned spot.
