Personal experience
Hitchhikernick visited Guadalcanal in September 2023 for a couple of days. Hitched to Honiara from airport and waited 10 mins max, took 2 lifts and received money off both drivers. Then hitched to shipwreck 20km to the west and got a few rides with ease and last lift offered me to stay at theirs for the night in Honiara. After that walked around town with no issues and hitched to Tenaru waterfalls and camped in parangiju lodge with beautiful views.
Overall people seemed really friendly and kind in Honiara/Guadalcanal. Average waiting time 10 minutes.
