Hitchhiking out

West towards Trabzon, Samsun, Ankara

To hitchhike towards İyidere, Trabzon, Samsun, or Ankara, you need to get to the Trabzon Road. You can take a minibus towards Dedeman or the University and start hitchhiking from in front of Dedeman.

East towards Hopa, Artvin

To go towards Çayeli, Hopa, Batumi, or Artvin, you need to get to the Hopa Road. You can take a minibus heading towards the stadium or Engindere, then after passing the stadium, walk through the industrial area to reach the Black Sea Coastal Road and start hitchhiking from there.

South towards Erzurum

For Kalkandere, İkizdere, İspir, or Erzurum, you need to go to the Erzurum Road. You can follow the same instructions as for the west direction and, after passing İyidere, continue hitchhiking from the Erzurum junction.

It should be noted that the Rize-İspir-Erzurum road is not very busy. Therefore, when traveling to Erzurum, it is strongly recommended to use the Trabzon-Gümüşhane-Bayburt-Erzurum route instead; it will be faster and easier.
