Hitchhiking out

South or Northwest (Frankfurt), (Dortmund)

Walk or take bus 11 to the very end of Frankfurter Strase and cross the last intersection. There is a small unpaved spot about 25 meters behind the intersection that leaves room for people to pull over. It's important to stand there with a sign, since there are many directions cars can go. For Frankfurt use the sign FFM. (if going South definitely use this spot and not the petrol station option below)

East or South towards Kassel, Erfurt, Frankfurt am Main

Take bus #25 from Giessen Johanneskirche towards Raststätte Reinhardshain. The bus is directly stopping at the petrol station along the A5. You are on the right side for going eastwards, Kassel, Erfurt, Berlin. For going south you have to get to the other side of the motorway, for that you can use a tunnel for animals (called Rehtunnel in German) or by the motorway underpass.
