Aleppo Governorate (Arabic: مُحافظة حَلَب) is one of the fourteen governorates (provinces) of Syria. It is situated in northern Syria, bordering Turkey. Its area depends of sources. It varies from 16,142 km² to 18,500 km². The governorate has a population of 4,281,000 (2006 estimate). The capital is Aleppo (Halab).
