If you wanna go '''south''', take the '''0''' bus (you can buy the ticket in the machine inside - it's very cheap) from the center (for example the railway station) to the south. Go to the end of the city, then keep on walking (follow the signs "Wrocław") after 15 - 20 minutes of walking you will find the road going straight to Wrocław or to the highway to south-east Poland , there is a great place to hitch - with a huge hard shoulder.
