Good luck, and remember, if you need a place to stay, I recommend using CouchSurfing. :) Volland 10:10, 4 December 2007 (CET)

Why do you work on Hitchwiki?
Hey Tom, I'm curious to know, why you work on Hitchwiki? :) guaka<small>site, wikitalk</small> 12:14, 3 September 2008 (CEST)

Categories
Hi! Your user page category has been changed to Category:Hitchhikers in the Isle of Man because from now on this (along with the old Category:Hitchhikers) will be a standard categorization for hitchhikers on hitchwiki.org (see this discussion here for the reasons of doing so). If for some reason you don't want to be categorized by country, feel free to delete country category on your page leaving only a standard Category:Hitchhikers. We hope you don't mind, though.

Happy hitching,

The hitchwiki team

Possible improvements
Hi Tom, I have altered afew entries around the island and will improve on things like the west/Peel as the weeks progress.
I would like to know how to get to put the map on a page like Dalby. ie isert map etc.
I put a hitchhiking point on the other page but it was so slow I am not sure it actually went into the system or not. I'll check Tuesday.
I thought of a couple of ideas for the website that I would like to explain with you:

1, Why not have a slight point on the ""thumb-sign" indicating roughly which "-bound" the waypoint is for/ heading to. i.e. the arrow would indicate the 8 points: n,s,e,west and perhaps north-east, south-west etc.
2, I REALLY think this whole website is about teaming people up with potential hitch-drivers. To that end you should be able to click on a thumb and let anyone travelling through that environ know that there is a potential lift in operation. Giving ETA's of when they will arrive perhaps? This really calls into question the legality of road-users but the website could punt a profitable sideline in getting civilian-check to see whether they have had a crash in the last 5 years or so.
I think it is about £30 a go for a police check. These could be done from a central source with a fee for the admin.
3, What do you think about markers for the hitchhiking spots on the road to let the person hitching and also the drivers know that this is a hitchwiki point. Good advertising and abit safer than ad-hoc hitching. I understand that most hitchers move alswell as hitching, but this gives a recognised location for picking up somebody. Could go wifi with button or have i over-dosed the problem?
The real question is what is the sign going to be on the ground or on a pole (i guess)?
4, When do i get another pint, chai tea is getting boring.

thanx. --Manx1979 23:46, 20 September 2010 (CEST)

Hi, thanks for the message! I'm hitching the UK right now, really don't have much online time, thanks for the questions and I'll come back to them when I return to the IOM at the beginning of October, OK? (Which answers question 4...) --Tom 10:55, 21 September 2010 (CEST)
